Planning to park at Logan International Airport? Prepare to spend more.
Daily parking rates at the airport are going up by more than $10 in the coming years. By 2021, it will cost $41 to park in the terminal garage and $32 to leave your car in the economy lot.
Currently, parking at the terminal lot —the one closest to the gates — costs $29. The economy lot costs $20 a day. Those rates are already set to increase by $3 at the end of June and the Massachusetts Port Authority Board approved additional increases on Thursday to help finance extensive improvements to the airport, including building more parking spaces and expanding the international terminal.

The first $3 a day increase will kick in on 2017, with additional $3 daily price hikes planned for 2019 and 2021. Economy parkers will be spending 60 percent more by 2021, while terminal garage users will see their costs rise by 40 percent.
“People aren’t thrilled about it,” said Thomas Glynn, Massport chief executive, about the higher rates. “But they can see the benefits.”
Massport plans to add 5,000 more parking spaces at the airport to ease overcrowding in the garages, a project that is likely to cost about $250 million, Glynn said.
The authority is also looking to expand Terminal E, adding seven more gates to the international section in the coming decade. The Terminal E expansion will cost about $500 million, Glynn said.
Logan’s international terminal was built in the 1970s, before the airport added flights to new destinations, such as Mexico City, Istanbul, and Hong Kong.
Massport hopes to start construction on those projects in 2018, but will require regulatory approval.
